Inception and Growth: SDA was formed by Michael Sapp, who, in 1986, laid the foundation for what would become one of Missouri’s premier commercial architectural firms. Today, with 17 full-time staff, SDA is ranked among the largest and most respected architectural firms in Southwest, Missouri.

SDA has a diverse portfolio of public and private projects that are a testimony to the vast knowledge and innovative thinking that our dedicated designers bring to every project.

Honors and Accolades: We have fostered a collection of award-winning designs, judged by both public and professional juries. In 2010, SDA was presented with 7 of the 14 design awards by the AIA Springfield Chapter. Some of our published projects have been featured in Metal Architecture, American School & University, American Libraries and College Planning & Management.

Employees: Likewise, SDA has a strong commitment to its employees, and has been named as one of the 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Choice Employers Award recipients by the Springfield Business Journal.
